SITTING atop the Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen on the Hong Kong-Shenzhen border in Luohu, 360° Bar, Restaurant and Lounge straddles many worlds. There is the bustle of the Shenzhen Railway Station; there is Hong Kong in the distance; and there is the feeling of being in the dynamic, fast-changing nerve center of the Pear River Delta. But that’s what’s outside. Inside 360°exudes a kind of elegance and a sense of opulence unmatched in even a city as extravagant as Shenzhen.
Upon entering, you encounter white and red high banquettes and retro-style lounge chairs; look up and you will see oversized spaghetti chandeliers. The most impressive part of the place, however, is the Eastern Lounge, reminiscent of the decadent 1930s Shanghai Deco period.

Gold and red are offset by a dark wood finish, creating the atmosphere of a library lounge. The Western Lounge, on the other hand, combines blues with cream and tan. Chinese artifacts complement contemporary lighting to provide the ideal example of East-West fusion.
Some of the signature dishes at 360°restaurant, and well worth a try, are the cappuccino of wild mushroom soup, pan-seared fois gras with apple compote and calvados sauce, ginger and herb crusted lamb loin with potato gratin, poached lobster tail in vermouth and carrot broth, hot chocolate fudge cake with pistachio ice cream.

The restaurant has the largest selection of wine by the glass in South China, and provides a professional wine sommelier to assist guests in choosing the right wine, the only establishment in Shenzhen to do so.
Needless to say, quality this high comes with the requisite price tag. But if you seek exceptionally high quality in service and food, and a level of elegance that is hard to find within driving distance, you will realize that 360° is most certainly worth it.
